Privacy policy
Merchlens is an embedded Shopify Admin app operated by Formneo Software. It helps merchants edit product photos and write them back to their Shopify catalog. This page explains what we process and what we do not.
Who this applies to
We process data about the shop that installs the app and the merchant staff who open it in Shopify Admin. We do not collect personal data about the shop’s customers (buyers).
Data we process
- Shop domain and Shopify session (OAuth) so the app can run inside Admin.
- Product IDs, titles, and product image URLs/IDs that you select to edit.
- Processed image files and a backup of the previous product image so you can undo a save.
- Optional logo file if you use the watermark tool.
- Monthly usage counts (background removals, resizes, compressions, AI credits) and the shop’s plan ($0 or Pro).
Data we do not process
We do not read or store customer names, emails, addresses, orders, checkout, or payment card data. App scopes are read_products and write_products only.
Why we process it
To authenticate the shop, run photo tools, preview results, publish or restore media on products, enforce plan quotas, and (if you subscribe) Shopify Billing for Pro.
Processors
- Shopify — install, Admin API, webhooks, and billing.
- Railway — application hosting.
- PostgreSQL on our host — sessions, image backups, usage, and plan.
- fal.ai — AI image jobs (background removal, scenes, upscale, alt-text suggestions). Image URLs or bytes are sent only to run that job.
We do not sell shop or merchant data.
Retention and deletion
Data is kept while the app is installed. If you uninstall the app, or Shopify sends a shop-redact webhook, we delete that shop’s sessions, image backups, logos, usage, and plan records. Shopify customers/data_request and customers/redact webhooks return success with nothing to export or erase, because we do not store customer personal data.
Your choices
Uninstall Merchlens from Shopify Admin → Settings → Apps. You can also restore a product image from inside the studio before uninstall. For access or deletion requests about shop data, use the support contact on the Merchlens App Store listing.
